stories of five non-Brits on the Great Isle

LUXEMBOURG & BELGIUM

LUXEMBOURG – On the journey from Germany to Belgium, we decided to spend a night in Luxembourg. But this wasn’t just any night — we slumbered in a converted train car, located on an active track!

The trains were operating mere feet from our domicile, day and night, so we spent a lot of time standing at the windows, just watching the comings and goings.

The tight quarters must have inspired some sibling bonding, because I caught T1 reading a bed-time story to T2, for the first time ever!

We finished our time in Luxembourg with the best Raclette this side of Switzerland!

DURBUY, BELIUM – With a population of +/- 500, Durbuy is known as the “smallest town on earth”. We wandered the cobbled streets, then took the train up into the hillside for a wider perspective.

Our time in Durbuy was cut short because T3’s health had made a bad turn and we decided to get him home and to a doctor quickly.

After testing negative for everything testable, and a 5hr nap in his own bed, he woke up a new man! All is well.
