We headed out again to finish the road trip after a few unexpected, but very obviously needed, nights at home. The last portion of the journey was a meet-up in London with Virginia friends from T1’s preschool class, who were on an extended layover! It has been so lovely to stay in touch with these friends, and most importantly, to see all the kids pick up exactly where they left off!

The kids enjoyed the Diana Memorial Playground and then we headed off to hit all the big sites!

We went to Madame Tussauds purely for the Star Wars exhibit. It was a good time, to be honest!

The kids have been anxious to ride a double-decker bus since we arrived. Knowing we had several years to accomplish this, I was in no rush. I had one simple stipulation: we were only going to take the journey on a sunny day. While not exactly sunny, there was no rain in the forecast, so we hopped aboard! I couldn’t hold them off!

Then, guess what happened?! Of course, the minute we were two wheels onto the Tower Bridge…it started to pour. Oh England, you are a fickle mistress.

And here concluded our spring road trip. Being a traveler means being a constant learner. Not only about your new surroundings, but also about yourself. Joe and I learned a lot of lessons this trip, mainly about our horrible tendency to overpack. Maybe we’ll do better next time. Maybe.
But overall, it was a success. One for the books, for sure!
