RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo) is reputed as the biggest military airshow in the world, and it was impressive for sure! While Joe carried out his professional responsibilities, the kids and I got to sit on the grass and just watch the show! Air crews from all over the world travel to RIAT to display their aerial prowess!

Our favorites were the Royal Air Force Red Arrows!

Look closely as they flew opposite each other with only 6m to spare!

I don’t remember the name of these helicopters, but they were flying in tandem, directly toward the ground. I was like, “Okay, this can’t end well.” Thankfully, it did.

Our other faves were the Saudi Hawks!

Once Joe emerged from his glad-handing session, we took a walk around the static aircraft displays. First, we visited Dad’s current airframe, the KC-135!

Then, we climbed aboard Joe’s first airframe, the KC-10, which was hosted by the squadron that he used to command. It was really special for Joe to see so many old friends, on what would probably be his last time inside this aircraft (it’s being phased-out by the KC-46.).

Just for fun, this is the last time Joe flew this airframe! And that baby is T1 as a not-yet-1yr-old! How time does fly!

These kids did so great today. I am always so grateful for their sweet personalities. What you can’t see in this post are the intermittent downpours, the endless walking, and the patient waiting while Dad did his command-thing. How lucky we are to have the sweetest kiddos.
