stories of five non-Brits on the Great Isle

BRECON BEACONS NATIONAL PARK

On our first day in Wales, we wanted to enjoy Brecon Beacons National Park, but weren’t exactly sure how to do it.

Hiking was out because T3 quits after 0.0 miles. Biking was out because T2 taps out at 3.2 miles. Boating was off the table because we knew the adults would have to do all the work. And then, like a rainbow breaking through, we discovered alpaca trekking!

We shared two alpacas and headed off into the hills! T1 was assigned ‘Hawk’, who seemed a bit skeptical of us.

T2 was given ‘Lexus’. It was love at first sight!

The alpacas were really sweet, not going to lie! I have been accused of having a penchant for hairy mammals, and this morning walk with our new friends certainly cemented it! Both of the kids were total champs about managing their alpacas!

BABY’S FIRST ALPACA TREK!

The view from the top of the hill was incredible!

When we returned to the barn, it was time to feed the herd! T2 was in her element! A girl after my own heart, she was not afraid to share her grain bucket with everyone!

We were, of course, the last people to leave the barn. While the kids enjoyed some well-deserved ice cream, we spoke with the owner, who was so kind and friendly. Come to find out…he and Joe had something in common! They had a good laugh exchanging notes on HRH!

Being escorted by alpacas through the Brecon Beacons was the absolute perfect way for our family to experience this amazing National Park! We loved it!
