We had an unplanned day, and after I lost the argument to explore more castle ruins, we headed to Galway City to see what we could find!
We jumped aboard the little tourist train to get a broad view of the town.

Then, we headed to the aquarium. This cute aquarium was just the right size for an afternoon of exploration.

My favorite part was the Conger Eels, which I didn’t even know existed! They can grow over 8ft long, and 85lbs. They looked fairly dead, but apparently that is how they “relax”. If you look closely, you can see the tail sticking out the other side of the rocks.

We were able to see a feeding of the eels, and one of them wouldn’t bother to wake from their slumber for a nibble. Another one came up to the surface and gave us a good view of just how big they are!

Also…I knew that octopuses had multiple brains, but I was today-years-old when I learned that each arm contains its own brain! Now what is the purpose of that?!

Guess I need to sent a note to RSMAS at UM about all the things they didn’t teach this Marine Biologist!!
Then, the day ended with some precious memories that I will cherish for all of my days. The kids have been enjoying Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler, and they decided to take over the story telling for the night! I love hearing their creative, if sometimes nonsensical, but always entertaining ideas! Some of my most interesting travel memories come from times when the kids share a room. It’s always an experience!

They have plenty of time in the car tomorrow to (not) catch up on sleep!
